I have a RAID 5 filesystem that reported a disk failure on sda5 and it has disabled that device from the RAID 5 disk set. That same disk has 2 other active partitions that are functioning just fine, /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda6. I expect this means that the disk didn't fail itself, but the partition had some problems. Any advice on the best way to repair or verify that the sda5 partition is ok and if so have it added back into the RAID 5 set? Ideally, I want to make sure the file systems on /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda6 remain unaffected.

Thanks in advance!

What about e2fsck -c? Beware, this destroys data on given filesystem. Read man pages first.
