Is it possible to take a set of hdd's from a highpoint raid controller and get them to work on a promise controller without losing information? I want to using my existing hdd's with my new mobo and the controlers are different any one else with a similqar situation?

bspanker,

This is generally not possible owing to the controller methods.

A workaround if the old system is still functonal would be to create a single drive image of the RAID 1 Array with a third drive. Setup up the original drives on the new sys and image back from the third drive.

If using Win XP see this link for changing the mobo:

Hope this helps

your answer has confirmed what i believe to be true so i guess my only other option would be to purchase a separate controler the from the last manufacturer i apprecciate your help and will reply as soon as i start setting it up. sometime things work out when u least expect it to. So my fingers are crossed. [pc3] <
