Hello all,

Hardware: Compaq DL580
OS: W2k Server
Raid one

If we put in the second harddisc the raid system begins to rebuild. Till 2% the mirroring develops normally. Then after a second the rebuilding has 100%.
If we check the status, at the array configuration utility we get the message that the sytem is waiting for the rebuilding. No rebuilding has taken place.

We changed the raid-module and the controller without a result.

Has anybody an idea?

Thanks

David

Did you have a disk failure and are replacing the second disk? Or are you expanding an existing Raid 0?
There are several possibilities here, one of them is that the system does not recognize the new disk properly. Does the new disk show all LED's green? What happens when you put the second disk in a different drive slot?
I would reboot the server (power off and on)and verify that the backplane board initializes all disk slots correctly (all LED's will light up briefly)
Also, check for 17XX post errors on bootup.
