RAID 1 Concatenation Issue

I have a problem. I ran out of space on my PowerEdge server with a PERC/2 DI that mirrors two 73G drives into a C: Drive (4G) and D: Drive (64G).

Three days ago I installed two additional 143G drives (mirrored) into the unit and want to span the D: Drive to include the new 143G drive. I initialized the drives and was able to see them under the OpenManage Array Manager. I then reconfigured the logical D: drive to span (Concatenate Raid 1) the new additional 143G drive so I can have a 200G D: drive. Well, the process has been running for three days now and the status states 'reconstructing'.

I read that I may have to format the new 143G drives before I span it but didn't do that. I don't know if this affects the spanning. But what are my options if I need to cancel or can I cancel?

Thanks!
Perry

Not too sure on your exact issue but I've found Array Manager doesn't update it's status very well for a lot of reconstruction operations. Last couple of times I reconstructed a RAID5 array I had to reboot the server before it refreshed the status.

If disk activity is low then chances are it's finished reconstructing...

The server actually hasn't been restarted yet. I did receive a event log that stated that the reconfiguration was completed last night but didn't restart the server because of its current status of 'reconstructing'. I will attempt to restart the server tonight sometime.

Thanks
