Hi,

I have a Proliant DL380 G3 with a Smart-Array 5i and 2 36.4 HDD configured for Raid1+0. My question is, can I hot-swap drives? What's the safest way to replace a failing drive.

Thanks in advance...

Just replace and wait until logical drive will be rebuilt. You can add one more HD, like Hot Swap. When one of the HD in the RAID is fail Hot Swap will replace it automatically.
