Ok here is the problem at this time we have a Partner System and we have a radio patch plugged into it to we can call over the radio channel from one of our phones.I am getting ready to install the Merlin Legend System on Sat. and i have tested everything else and this is the only thing that does not work. When i plug it into one of the extensions on the 012 Module and i call it i can break into like i should be able to but i have no voice.I don't know if anyone here has encountered this problem or may or may not be able to help me but if you can please leave a reply.

Explain a little more about what you mean by a "radio patch". Describe the Legend system: processor, software version, installed modules. Explain what you mean by you can "brak into it", but "have no voice".

Just so you will know, there was just such a device that led to the break up of the Bell System.

Actually the "Carterfone decision" in 1968 is not regarded as the cause of the Bell System breakup - rather it only allowed non-Bell equipment to be connected to telco facilities. It opened the door to all of the various phone systems on the market today. MCI lawsuits more directly resulted in the Bell breakup.

I always thought that the very first rumblings of the eventual Bell System breakup was back in the 1940s. (The "Hush-a-phone" fiasco). [ponder]

Please, tell us more...

Now you are bringing up things that this person who lived thru/was affected by the break up never heard of....

I'm guessing that Merlinman was referencing my post.

Actually the "Hush-A-Phone" fiasco was in the 1950s. (My bad) [purpleface].

Instead of typing it all out, I'll give a link to one of the many sites found (with google) that talk about the Hush-A-Phone and the very small step it took in starting the process of unraveling AT&T.

That is an interesting article, DEXMAN.

I think we must aslo give credit to Carter.

His lawsuit also set a precident.

Not that I am happy about it, but alas, after 40 years in the business, I can only be unhappy about having to relocate, thanks to the break up.

I'm not sure that all the inovations we have now would not have happened with the BELL System, (After all, they pretty much invented every thing we use now...) But it would probably have taken a lot longer, and, considering the old "COST PLUS" mind set, it would cost a TON MORE also.

But, I'd be willing to bet that if the old Bell System was the SOLE PROVIDER of INTERNET, there would be NO VIRUSES, NO MALWARE, & NO SPAM.

But alas, the Bell System is no more.

At 39, I wasn't around for most of those things, but I sure do remember the old rotary dial phones in the house (Heck we still have them stored away in the basement!) [wink]

I know this post is off topic so forgive me.

I'm kind of split over the breakup of the Bell System. The idea of being forced to rent telephones seems foolish, but you knew everything was designed to work together properly, no questions asked.

Would telephone gear be as advanced today if Ma Bell were still in one piece? Who knows? [ponder]

The Merlin was Ma Bell's brain child. I have a red ATL ten button set that has the Bell System Bell on it and the bottom is stamped with Bell System Made By Western Electric.
Were they evolving when the Merlin was conceived or where they just preparing to compete in the post divestiture world?

I'm not sure if the 206, 410, 820, 1030 and 3070 were built to compete, or if they were built as a natural progression in telephone system hardware.

Being Western Electric products, they were built like tanks.[cannon]

Short of dropping them off of a building, they just keep on going & going & going & going.

Dexman, COOL GRAPH!

Nascomm1, I'll give you $25 Bucks for it!

(And I don't have a port it'll hook to either....)

Merlinman,

I have a port to hook it up to and its a great conversation piece when folks see the bell logo on it and not the death star.

The red is not for sale, but I may still have a brown one floating around that has a bell logo and Western Electric on the base. that i'd be willing to part with

I will think about it.

A buddy has a red 34 Button Euro Partner set.

That red 34 Euro must be unique. Never saw one before.

I have seen a few in red, and also green, they were custom sprayed by Avaya for a local utility.
