I am opening a new restaurant, and I have decided to go with either Radiant's P1500 or P1220 terminals. We currently join our terminals to a domain; is anyone aware of any problems I may encounter trying to join these Radiant terminals to a domain? I assume I will be getting the full version of XP Professional on the terminals and there won't be a problem, but we all know what happens when you assume a computer will operate the way you need it to!

Thanks!

Yep.

Unless you request otherwise the terminals will be running XP Embedded.

Does XP Embedded have the capabilities to join a domain?

Thanks for your help,

Sure.
Just be cautious of your logons. Make sure your terminals can run even when the domain is unavailable. Cache at least 10 logons. or even make the BOH a SDC or something like that.(AD replication, etc...) Something!

I don't know of any huge advantages to doing this. It just makes things more complicated.

Why do you want to? and- How many domains do you operate? Where is the PDC? How many store locations, etc.

Just curious.

The BOH is the DC for the restaurant. We are setup, if for any reason, the domain is unavailable, the terminals will still function.

You know, I was very apprehensive to using a domain, I know it is not needed, and the decision was made to go with it. To be honest, the initial setup was tricky, but once we learned what we were doing everything ran smoothly. I have not had a problem with our POS (network related) at all since implementing this over a year and a half ago.
