My radiant 1220 shuts down and restarts all of a sudden when someone goes to put in an order sometimes once a day or sometimes more frequently, has any one else experienced a problem like this before. Is the machine getting too hot?

Usually it's the motherboard going bad and or over-heating. There are 2 screws at the bottom of the machine, the screen will lift up and off. Check the CPU fan and heat sink, usually gets clugged up with dust and grease. Also check for blowtn or swolen capacitors. The little round cans with a + on them. The tops with the pluses should be flat not puffed up. If they are not flat then you will have a motherboard fail.

Cheers,

I have found with a good quality rope Radiant terminals make excellent boat anchors. Discerning fish however may be offended.

You may already have checked this but you should take a look at the power connector into the terminal.

You say it restarts when someone enters an order? I've seen this before when the power cable is pulled (or tied) tightly and the act of pressing the touchscreen is moving it enough to dislodge the power connector, just enough to shutdown and then restart the terminal. Making sure there's a little 'give' in the cabling fixes it.
