Radiant 1210 Hard Drive Replacement

I've had this issue with a couple of different terminals so I'm look to see if anyone has an answer. I've imaged a drive on a radiant 1210 and tried to install it in another 1210 that had a failed hard drive. The unit will not boot and acts like the drive is not bootable. I tried taking a drive directly out of a unit and placing it in a different unit and the same thing. I got another 1210 to try with the same result. Is there something that needs to be reset after replacing the drive a 1210?
 
Not that I am aware of. I have had a few unfortunate experiences where I think when I used my 1210 image on a different terminal, the touch drivers were different? (different revision of the 1210 maybe?)But I never had a issue where it wouldn't see a drive.

There are *some* occasions where I have seen IDE channels actually go bad on units and not recognize ANY hard drive (not exclusively Radiant, but on various machines). I've also had another weird one where any drive I hooked up to an IDE channel would instantly get fried (not fun). In any case, it was probably some issue with the motherboard that caused the IDE not to work anymore. I can probably count on one hand the amount times I have seen the IDE channel itself go bad and mimic what looks like a bad drive-but it's definitely worth mentioning that is DOES happen.

I am little confused as to what you said you tried- but I would cross swap a working Radiant drive with the unit being repaired, and taking your newly imaged drive and put it the Radiant that didn't have an issue, and see what happens on both units.

I also have seen cases where on older computers, drives were "too big" to be seen by the BIOS. With some hard drive manufacturers, there is a way to set jumpers to make the drive appear smaller to the BIOS so it would get recognized. But before I went through that rigamarole, I would just go out and get a smaller drive (probably from a different manufacturer) and give that a shot, and use the original drive you purchased for something else.

Beyond that, I am at a loss- but I have replaced 1210 drives and have never had to do anything special.
 
Did you forget to reset your HD jumpers on the drive you imaged to?

Did you try the original drive on the machine in which the drive failed? Did it boot?

What are you using to image?

Will the drive boot on another PC?
