Radeon x1600 Drivers Will Not Install

Howdy all,

I'm trying to install an ATI Radeon X1600PRO video card into my Windows XP Pro machine, and every time I try to launch the device drivers' installation program, the install shield wizard window loads in my task bar, but then immediately closes and the drivers are not installed.

Also -- Windows seems to think my Radeon X1600 PRO is an NVIDIA RIVA TNT video card. I can't uninstall the RIVA in device manager ... Windows immediately detecs it and automatically installs it again. I really wish Windows would stop doing that...

Anyway -- does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? I'm at my wit's end...

get the latest install shield patch and try again

I just scoured the net for 30 minutes trying to find an install shield "patch" and I can't find *anything* -- I did run across a couple message boards detailing instructions for renaming the "InstallShield" folder inside "Program Files\Common Files" (this forces files to be recopied from somewhere), but I can't find anything about a patch.

I'm not sure that's the problem, anyway -- installshield has never failed for any other applications.

Thanks, Lemon for the sugesstions, however after installing that patch, I am getting the same results...

If I can't figure this one out, I'm going to have to buy a new video card, as Best Buy won't take the card back (longer than 30 days since purchase). Can you believe that??
