I recently purchased a Radeon 9600 pro and have been having some trouble with it after continual play in my games. After about 15-30 minutes of play, I'm either sent to my desktop or given a black screen and a frozen game, or a black screen and the game still running. Im curious if there are any solutions to this or if anyone knows why its doing this. My computer specs are as follows:

Windows XP Home Edition
Athlon XP 2400+
Mach Speed Motherboard V400DB with VIA chipset
512 DDR RAM
Radeon 9600 Pro

Update your via chipset drivers to 4.49 .
If you are using catalyst 3.8 ,if you have AGP fast wites set on, switch it OFF .
Overheating..
Revert to previous display drivers..

Safest bet is to make sure you're using catalyst 3.7 drivers. There have been many upon many issues people are having with the stability of the 3.8 drivers, speculatively due to overheating. There are also several reports of a bug in the 3.8 drivers blowing out monitors by testing refresh rates out of the monitor's range (the card can support up to 200Hz); though the monitor blowout issues are questionable, and some think they're fraudulent claims, but whatever, just to be safe, switch back to 3.7 for now.
