(I'm posting this here on the Oracle 9i forum 1) in case any of you would like a FREE copy of great software and 2) because I know that I would not be pleased if one of you knew about a great offer and you didn't let me know about it.
and 3) because I'm always looking for ways to simplify and speed up database-application development.)
I (SantaMufasa) saw an amazing thing happen two days ago: A company that built the “gold-standard” for Rapid-Application-Development (RAD) platforms for database applications just made their software available in a downloadable PC version at NO COST.
Here is a copy of their Press Release announcing a no-cost, 5-user, full-functioned version of “EnterpriseTenFold SOA Personal Edition”. Here is a link to the "EnterpriseTenFold SOA Personal Edition" Download 'Welcome' page that includes links to the "...Tutorial", "System Requirements", and actual "Download".
I am impressed with the list of customer companies that use EnterpriseTenFold technologies to drive their rapid-development of their multi-thousand-concurrent-end-user business applications, including: JP Morgan Chase, Barclays Global Investors, Mellon Bank, Cedars-Sinai Health System, Health South, Vertex Data Science Limited (UK), and several other “large players” from several industrial sectors.
I, personally, have used TenFold’s software before to build (in about 37 person hours) a full-featured, web-based Customer-Relationship Management (CRM) application that ran on an Oracle database. I didn’t need to write a single line of SQL code.
Once I was satisfied with the way the application behaved, I told the software to “re-build” the application to run on an MS SQL Server database; then on MySQL. It took just a few minutes for the software to re-render the application for the other platforms.
EnterpriseTenFold runs with equal ease on Oracle, Sybase, DB2, MS SQL Server, MySQL, and EnterpriseDB; on any single- or multi-tiered hardware configuration that can access any of the above database engines.
EnterpriseTenFold SOA Personal Edition (PE) seamlessly equips applications with AJAX, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) support, and web service-creation capabilities. Web services that you build with PE are 100% compatible with standards being emphasized by IBM, Microsoft, and others.
I also found out that EnterpriseTenFold can translate (in minutes) an application originally rendered in English, into Spanish, French, German, even Japanese, Chinese, Russian, et cetera.
When I became aware of this offer, I contacted TenFold’s VP of Business Development and asked if I could tell my Tek-Tips colleagues about the offer. They agreed and suggested that if Tek-Tipsters choose to download a no-cost copy of EnterpriseTenFold SOA Personal Edition, that on the Registration page where it asks where you heard about the offer, click “Other” and enter “Tek-Tips”. (I promise, I don’t get anything in return for your downloads; they just want to know how people are hearing about the offer.)
Even though I may sound like a salesperson, I’m not; I’m just excited to finally find a Rapid-Application-Development tool for databases that delivers on what it promises, at an affordable price (free
) for this version!
I’d be interested in knowing what your reactions and experiences are with this software if you choose to download it, so post back to this thread with your thoughts.
