How many rings do you have it set to before answering? If it is a high number, you may have to adjust your S7 setting in your modem init string.
Also, are you using a DID line? If so, some older RADS needed a patch file to allow them to work with off core lines. Give us a bit more info. please.
If you call that number from a phone, do you hear the RAD answer after the 2 rings?
Also need to know what type of system it is on because there are some other considerations.
Yes, if I have it set to 2 rings. The RAD appears to pick up, however it doesn't do anything. It hangs there and then says on the screen that it did not answer.
Can you use a different line? I have worked over 4000 systems remotely, and sometimes a particular line just will not pass data. The MICS and CICS have a timeout that will give the same error if you fail to connect in 3 attempts, you have to wait 20 minutes, but don't think that applies to 6x16 or 8x24, but not 100% sure of that.
Do you know what speed the RAD is set to? Also, is it a Fast RAD or one of the older ones?
