I can successfully access the rad in a cics 6.0, but trying to go thru the AA is another story. Can someone give me a detailed explanation how to do this. The auto/disa dn is key here, I think...TIA...Mike
What Jerry is talking about is using an ATA hooked up to an EXTERNAL RAD on any system, but that would be pointless, seeing as how the IRAD is already built in. I am going to try the Night Ringing function tonight on a CICS, but many customers would be ticked if you pulled a line's AA answer....especially if there is no receptionist, as which is the case theese days...
I think you are misunderstanding the setup. What is required is a CO port that is OPEN (SPARE,) an ATA, and any RAD. Since the CO is open and spare the customer has no idea that it is being taken off the AA- (it was never on it in the first place).
No, I see what you mean...I guess I think that way beacuse most of my clients fill up their CICS with a full load of 8 trunks right away, and never give me a chance to add good adjuncts.
We have done that rig a couple of times on clients with spare Trunk ports, but, the problem is is that the client very quickly counts his/her number of phone lines, figures out you've used a trunk port, and is unwilling to add another LS/DS or CLID card when technically there is already a spare port....
I guess I'm just venting: Many CICS users are very, uh, frugal. I love working with big (200 station+) MICS systems, where you can get exactly what you need!
Never tried this but CICS has fax answering feature right?
Set Fax DN to same as IRADs DN.....dial in with your modem, fax sense's the call sends it to the IRAD......or maybe I am just a dreamer and want that on my Norstar christmas list.
