What depth of comms cab do I have to buy to rackmount a Prolient 6000 and 3000?

Anyone know, can I get away with a normal depth or does it require a special build.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Chris

If you are rack mounting Compaq equipment, then the best thing is to buy Compaq Racks. If you cannot get these, then the cabinet size should be 800 x 600. This is the "standard" 19" rack.

Having never worked with Dell server racks I cannot comment. However if it is a standard 19" rack, then it might work. The only trouble will come if you have to call a Compaq engineer to the server. They may not look at the server if it is in a "non standard" Compaq rack.

Any 19" rack will work as long as it is deep enough. The 3000 needs about 27" between the front and rear mounting rails. Compaq racks have air vents built into their doors. If you use a non Compaq rack you need to leave the front and rear doors or you may overheat your system.

If you pick the correct Dell rack it will work great with compaq servers. Both Dell and Compaq use the same manufacturer for their 42U racks and they are identical except for color and accessories. Compaq ships more extra hardware with theirs.
