We are in the process of upgrading our database from 8i to 10gR2. We are trying to decide whether to implement RAC or use dataguard, running transaction processing on the production machine and reporting on the dataguard machine. Our primary concerns about RAC relate to the extra DBA workload we have a 1/5 time DBA at the moment and are concerned that the increased complexity of RAC will create too great a workload (Especially when problems arise). The dataguard solution will meet our processing needs for the next 18 months but we may have to implement RAC then.

Does anybody have any advice?
