FYI
I just installed my first ACS R7, It was an upgrade to a P+. I tried to set up the last line port on the last 206 as a page port, it didn't work, tried several other 206 line ports, none worked...( had page voice but so low amp couldn't work with it)
I Called tech support & they told me processor was prolly bad, ordered replacement....it did the same thing, I ended up setting the lastline port on the R7 Proc to be the page port, it worked fine. So R7 doesn't work completely as it should with 206s, don't know yet if same problem with 308s.

What amp are you using with it? Only the 5th CO port will give you the contact closure on the 2nd pair during the page interval. If you are using a PagePac you MUST use the 5th CO port AND a 4-conductor line cord, OR, provide a constant short on the 2nd pair towards the amp to keep it in the page mode (which will mute background music if you are using it)

TTT,
The amp is one of those little wheelock AA-20, dont need contact closure, no background music needed in cabinet factory !! just an audible TR input, that was the problem, output on the line ports was barely audible on butt set...if heating vent was blowing on the other side of the room I couldn't hear it, only when room was totally quiet could I tell there was any output at all. In the R7 line port 4 or 5 it sounded completely normal. Go figger!
I also noticed mod plugs were hard to push in and seat in some of the jacks...
Think I'll stock up on R6s while they're available !!

Wow, sorry to hear this. I've used line ports on 308 expansion modules as page ports, and of course those on the R7 itself. I've not tried it with a port on a 206 yet.

The R6's aren't going anywhere for a long while. Avaya is marketing them as an "R6 Basic" without the RAC card for the SOHO and custom home market.

The RAC's are available seperatly, and without the R6 upgrade imaage (and at a much lower cost)

i thought paging can only be programmed on the first 5 lines off the R7 processor.....

SET CRTL ALT DEL = #728

No, any line on the system can be set up as the page port. Only CO-5 includes the paging contact closure.

If you assign the page port before you assign the number of lines, and the number of lines exceeds the position of the page port (say, you have 6 lines, and your're using CO-5 for paging), it will automatically assign the lines in order, skipping the page port. (in the example above, it will assign line 1-4, and 6-7 as the 6 CO lines.)

I recently ran into this problem. Connected paging to second port of a 200 module. Programmed this line as page port...NOTHING. I had to install a Bogan TAMB. This ups the volume out of the line port so the amp can see it.

Why the TAMB? If you did not need any of the additional features (such as pre-announce tone, background music, microphone overide, etc.), you should just move the paging port to one of the line ports on the ACS, and reprogram the line appearances to appear square.
