I have a Partner ACS R7 and one of the lines has a strange problem. When I connect a CO line to input 4 the phones start ringing as if a call was coming in. I thought that maybe the line was programmed as a Paging line. I checked and sure enough it was setup as an external page port. I did a factory reset on the switch and the unit still does the same thing. Any ideas???. I purchased the unit from a friend and it was supposed to be new but I guess not with the line programmed page.

Line 5 is the paging port if i remember correctly. That system will hold 4 lines and paging port or 5 lines. If you have done a factory reset, and the line is ringing as soon as you plug the co in, might be a bad port. You could plug in your 4th co line to the 5th line on the processor and see if the problem continues. IF not, then you know to mark port 4 bad on the processor. You just won't have a loud speaker paging port available.

Plug the CO line into an analog phone just to make sure there really isn't ring voltage on it... Technically, any line can be used for page port, however line 5 provides contact closure on paging if your equipment requires. Defaulting the later R7 systems isn't always as easy as it would appear due to a software patch. Verify that line 4 is now a regular line instead of a paging port. If necessary, manually make it back into regular line for testing.
