I HAVE A CUSTOMER WHO NEEDS TO UPGRADE THERE PARTNER SYSTEM. I PLAN ON REUSING THE CARRIER. WILL I HAVE ANY ISSUES REUSING A PARTNER PLUS CARRIER WITH AN R7 PROCESSOR,(3) 308 MODULES AND A R7 MESSAGING MODULE 6 PORTS.
THANKS
Other then breaking the taps off you should be fine, if they are going to upgrade I would have them get a new cab as they are cheap and the new ones hold the cards farther apart for better cooling. Just a thought.
Hi mmico,
For the cost of the carrier, why cook the R7 and the other cards? The added cooling will save your customer money in the long run. We do not reuse the older carrier. Even in a system move we take the opportunity to upgrade the carrier.

I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT DOWN TIME WHILE THE OFFICE WAS OPEN.IT WOULD ONLY TAKE A MIN. OR TWO TO REPLACE THE CARDS.IF I HAD TO REPLACE THE CARRIER IT WOULD TAKE A LITTLE LONGER.I'VE USED OLD CARRIER BEFORE WITH THE ACS I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE IT COULD HANDLE ALL THE CARDS AND VOICEMAIL.JUST FOR THE RECORD THE OLD CARRIERS ARE EASIER TO OPEN AND CLOSE THEN THE NEW ONES WITH THE COVERS.
WILL THE HEAT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS
Hi mmico,
No, the new carriers are much improved for heat. The new carrier fits exactly on the old mounting screws also. Your down time won't be long in any case since you can pre-program the R7. Take out the old cards, loosen the screws and zip the new carrier in and reinstall the cards with the new uP. The entire job would be done before a Norstar can be turned off and rebooted.
Do this early in the morning or during lunch. End of day is another option. We will do this just after hours sometimes at no extra charge. I grumble to my boss 'cause I don't like to work late.
