I appreciate the opinions on this one..

I sold an R7.0.(23) IP office and regular embedded voicemail works fine. When I select Visual Voicemail everything seems to work fine including my message light activating but it will not let me listen to any of the new messages.

Is this a release issue or should I just try to upgrade it to a higher release. I sold it as a refurb cheap solution so I don't want to pay to upgrade it. Whats you thoughts on best course of action.

I appreciate the help

Clint

You sold a system that has software that is several years old?

Kind of strange comment about asking me to justify my position - but we all have different back grounds so maybe your coming from a place I don't understand. If I had proposed a brand new R10+ they would not have wanted it because of the price point. They have all new phones with a refurb head end unit and are very happy because it was super cheap. I'm sure others have had customers that want a working and cheap system over there current complete phone outage etc. We installed 47 IP phones on an R10 last week - totally different customer, with different needs and different budgets. I wish everyone had those types of budgets but some mom and pops just don't have the resources or honestly need the latest greatest

The only open issues is trying to get Visual Voicemail to work. I will probably upgrade it to a later release of R7 and see if that fixes it. I'll try to post if it does.

I hope I addressed your question Janni78 - please let me know if you can answer mine :)

No Problems with V7 (apart form lack of support from Avaya but in most cases if you were going to have a problem that needed it you would have seen it by now)
we had a similar issue recently (not use of the SW version) which was caused by the time n the system being correct :-(

Guess it comes down to me being spoiled and not working with anything older than 9.1 at the moment.
I realize others do things differently for reasons unknown to me even though I might not agree with it.

I have to agree that I would prefer not to install 2nd had equipment on obsolete firmware but I do have to maintain systems much older than this (I have at least 1 IP403 on V1.4 still going strong).
I doubt that an upgrade licence would have made a significant difference but some customers insist on cutting corners even when they are advise it will cause problems.

(Not going to pick the guy apart for working with all of his customers needs, but I will offer sugestions [wink]) I would reformat and recreate the card. Default the chassis. Program from scratch if it is small enough. When in doubt, rip it out. That is my theory. Probably something stuck in legacy programming. I have seen a lot of goofy things with repurposed equipment.

Thank you for the advice budbyrd. I think I will reformat the card. Also like IPGuru I have a customer with a IP412 with about 70+ phones on it and they do not want to upgrade yet.

Sorry if I came across as grouchy. I really appreciate everyone's comments even if they seem challenging sometimes.
