I have a new laptop, the newer ones do not come with a com port. So, i bought the adaptor to go from USB to com, which, it turns out is com 6. With SPM you can use com port 1-9 or so... Partner remote admin software only lets you use com 1 or 2.
Does anyone know of a patch from Avaya to "open a few more com ports"???

Not a business partner and no access to the BP website..

Hi telecomtekperson,
My boss has the same problem. It's not an Avaya problem, it's a windoze thing. His com port changes every time he sparks the laptop up. I've tried to hammer down the port, but I can't. There may be a registry edit for this.

No, its not a windows thing. The Partner ACS remote admin program only works with com 1 and 2. If i plug my usb to com cable in, it is com 5.

PS, if your boss always plugs the cable in the same port it will be the same port every time.

Hi telecomtekperson,
It is a windoze thing. I've watched the laptop reboot and windoze reassigns the port somewhere else. I've seen COM2 through COM6 on a reboot. Bios can come into play but the OS is assigning the resources. I am happy for you that yours is at least consistant. We need to use HA5 (dos) and run into the same issue you are (COM1 through 4 only).

Let's hope Avaya will adress this in future releases.
