R6 to R9 upgrade or license failure after chassis loss?

We just got a call from a customer who's chassis died. ADI said it was an R6 that upgraded to an R9, so we used a newer chassis and swapped the card. Now it says there is no essential license available. There are 2 instances of additional essential VM ports, and 1 instance of an R9 upgrade. I have deleted and re-entered both of them with system reboots and I am still getting the same message. Not sure what to do - some of the older posts mentioned steps going from 6 to 9, but if this worked before is there a reason it wouldn't work in a new chassis? Thank you in advance.

The essential would be virtual with the upgrade license and won't be present with the new chassis. Get an essential license.

So... if I just swapped the power supply between a new and old chassis I'd be back in business?

That may work but Best to just buy the Essential license as stated

If you are looking for a quick fix, the power suppy swap would probably work. We always get an essential licence if we upgrade from anything pre R8 just to cover our butt. The license is cheaper than the hassle of the hussle if it dies.

Yeah - swapping the power supply is like putting a bandaid on an infection and leaving it for the next guy.... Wish I could find the guy who did it to me

Avaya does have the emergency replacement of the virtual essential license for just such a case. Contact them or your vendor and they should be able to get it within the hour.

You can get it as a trial license as well to get some more time to solve that. AFAIK the emergency replacement is only available with a valid IPOSS contract.
