Hi
My company currently runs a 2003 Domain

We have two 2003 DC's both running DHCP in a 80/20 Split

We have built two new servers with 2008 R2 on them in readiness to upgrade the Domain to R2

I planned to do some ground work and move the DHCP roles before we upgraded the Domain to R2

Is there an issue with having DHCP on a r2 server in a 2003 Domain ?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Dave

No. You don't even have to get DHCP from a Windows server. Many larger companies have dedicated non-windows systems for managing DHCP.

It's been years since I've seen a large org (>10,000 seats) that was AD based that didn't use Windows for DHCP. And, the last time I saw it, I was there to replace it with Windows DHCP. With Windows based DHCP, you get that seamless updating of DNS records.

As for the original post, I agree with kmcferrin. No issues at all there.
