R2 DFS namespace with existing pre R2 DFS root compatibility

We have an existing forest root DFS and are planning on upgrading the schema to support R2 DFS enhancements.

When we deploy the first R2 DFS server and create a new DFS namespace will this create problems with our existing DFS structure? Do we have to migrate the existing DFS structure to R2? Any suggestions or advice on this?
