Hi all.... have a question on my backups using arcserve.
I was troubleshooting our nightly backup job (around 640Gb) which starts off really well.... in the 2,300Mb/min range.... I know the system is probably capable of more, but that speed is acceptable for me.
Anyways.... as time goes on, the speed reduces to around 600Mb/min..... which means the backup ends up taking 12hrs.
I did think it was the tape drive, so we purchased an RDX device to test with as they are cheap and run on a completely different interface. And exactly the same thing happens.
THe biggest culprit is an image of a VM, 420Gb in size. It seems that when Arcserve starts a new 'subjob' the whole slowdown thing starts again, but the other jobs are all smaller files.
I was wondering if anyone has seen this??
It doesnt matter if the files are local on the Arcserve box or across the network....
Thanks for the help,
Dekkar
