R12 Client Agent problems

We upgraded our backup servers to Arcserve R12 a month ago and the other day I upgraded the client agents on all our servers. I have re-submitted the backups and re-selected the use client agent option. Since then we have a bit of a weird thing happening. If the full selection is chosen (the server and all of it's drives etc) the backup works correctly without error. If however a select a subset of the servers drives (only C$ & E$ for example) I get the following error

<SERVER-NAME> Failed to open file <E$>. RC2, The system cannot find the file specified.

If I take the use client agent out of the back up it works fine and if I do a full selection it works fine. The problem is, on some servers we only need a subset backing up. This used to work fine in 11.5 and has only become an issue after the client upgrade.

Any Ideas?

Regards

Steve

well hey that's a good one
got no idea why
try a test job of just one of these systems
try a count or copy job of the same data
put the client agent into debug (registry setting)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\BrightStorARCserveBackup then I think it is ClientAgent\Options value debug set to 1.
