R1 signalling in MD110

Does anyone know if MD110 supports R1 signaling by default?
Or is it possible to patch it to support?

R1 is supported by MD
but you nead MRU and MSU board.

I could be wrong but I thought that MSU/MRU boards were used for R2 signalling? ...
