Having rid myself of "SnapDo" with the help of some of you folks, I hate to have to do this.
Now I have another browser taking over my machine (Windows 7). It seems to be called "qv06".

This beast does not appear as software which can be uninstalled. A DLL did appear in my Mozilla application files (I have IE10 as default) but I deleted that. I still get the beast. It comes in with the url

I have to say that the people who include these things with an otherwise legitimate download are beneath contempt. I wish there was some way to exile them.

Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks folks - but NO CEEGAR!

I have a licenced version of MalwareBytes running all the time - no notice!
The uninstall link just told me to go to Control Panel -> Uninstall - which I did but it hasn't got rid of the beast.

My problem persists.

After you have done:

Control Panel -> Uninstall - which I did but it hasn't got rid of the beast

follow this with:

Internet Explorer:

1.Right-click on the shortcut you use to launch Internet Explorer.
2.Select Properties and click on the Shortcut tab.
3.In the Target area delete everything written after “iexplore.exe” and click OK.
4.Now launch the browser then tap Alt+T. Or select Tools/Options
5.Select Internet Options and click on the General tab.
6.Overwrite the Home Page and click OK.
7.Now tap Alt+T again and select Manage Add-ons.
8.Click on Toolbars and Extensions from the menu on the left.
9.Select the unwanted add-on and click Disable to remove it.
10.Now click on Search Providers, click on Qvo6.com and select Remove. Click Close

This works for some instances.

They get paid for each download/install.

HijackThis and Spybot S&D will clean up most things.

When I click on the Uninstall link (I obviously don't have the qv06 install in the first place), it gives me among other things this,

IE

1 - Open IE Explore
2 –Via “Tools->Internet Options”, Open “Internet Options” panel
3 – Click “General” tab
4 – Delete qvo6 homepage link and set a new homepage link
5 – Click “Settings” button in the “Search” area, open “Manage Add-ons” panel
6 – Remove qvo6, then close “Manage Add-ons” panel
7 – Click “Apply” or “OK” on “Internet Opens” panel to save the changes

And this,

Uninstall Shortcut

1 - Find the shortcut of the browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome) in all locations of the computer, including but not limited to the desktop;
2 - Right click and find the "Option";
3 - Delete qvo6 in "Target" of the tab "Shortcut".

Well, I found out a lot of things.

Strongm: you said
1.Right-click on the shortcut you use to launch Internet Explorer.
2.Select Properties and click on the Shortcut tab.
I don't get a properties tab when I right click in the IE icon. I am using IE10 on W7 - that probably explains that. MS does have a habit of changing things for no apparent reason.

Linney suggested I go to "Manage Add-ons". Hmmm.
I went Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced and unchecked "Enable third party browser extensions". I am not sure what this does but I guess I'll see what happens.
I went Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> Manage Add-ons" and removed any reference to qv06.
Then rebooted.

The unkindest cut of all? Have a look at the JPEG! After all this qv06 still pops up when it feels like it. It doesn't come up every time - just when it feels like it.

Here's one odd thing that might be a clue for someone more technically advanced that myself - qv06 appears to be a web page rather than a browser per se. Look at the conformation in the JPEG.

Thanks guys, but ... I still have the beast! Are there some other suggestions?
Thanks

I use IE10 on W7 as well.

You probably need to be aware that the entries for programs on Start Button/All Programs are shortcuts ...

What if you search in the Registry for any entries that mention qv06, if you find any, export the Registry Key (backup) via a Right-click, then Delete the value (not the whole Key) that mentions qv06 via a Right-click?
