quote in entity reference 1

Is it possible to have an entity reference with a quote in it? I'm using xsl to transform xml to html, but I'd like to put some html in entity references, for easy of changing certain things throughout the site.
e.g I'd like an entity reference that puts:
<img src=&quot;pic.gif&quot; onClick=&quot;doSomething('parameter')&quot;/>
into the doc. But I can't put the double quotes in the entity reference.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Guess you most probably have solve your problem.

For my case, I am trying to put double quotes in attribute, so I just replace by double quotes with &quot;. For a single quote, you may wish to try &apos;
