hi, everyone,

when I typed quota command, I got the message,
"/bin/ksh quota not found"

in /usr/ucb directory, ( /usr/ucb is in PATH)
there is a file quota,
"1rwxrwxrwx root bin quota->/usr/sbin/quota"
but in /usr/sbin/quota, I can not find quota file.

What's the problem?

Thank you very much for your help.
Yi

Maybe you don't install the fileset "bos.sysmgt.quota",you can verify it with "lslpp -l|grep quota".

Thanks.

When I typed lslpp -l|grep quota, nothing happened.
does this mean that quota has not been installed?

Hi
/usr/ucb/quota is a symm link to /usr/sbin/quota.

you had already verified with the command
#lslpp -l|grep quota
No out put right...it means it is not installed.
You double check with the follwing command ..you
should get the foll0wing out put if(quota file set) proper installation is done.

#lslpp -f bos.sysmgt.quota

Fileset file
-----------------------------------------------------------
path: /usr/lib/objrepos
bos.sysmgt.quota 4.3.3.25
/usr/sbin/repquota
/usr/sbin/edquota
/usr/sbin/quot
/usr/sbin/quotacheck
/usr/sbin/quotaoff--> /usr/sbin/quotaon
/usr/sbin/quotaon
/usr/sbin/quota

the output is
lslpp 0504-132 fileset bos.sysmgt.quota not installed.

my further question is how to install it?

thank you.

Hi

Check the fileset bos.sysmgt.quota in aix software CD1
and install using smitty or at command prompt as follows

step1:login as root

step 2:

#installp -acgX -d /usr/sys/inst.images bos.sysmgt.quota all

check the path of installation of file set and do accordingly..
Also look for prerequsites for this install.
Better to use smitty installp command...this will guide you
properly through menus and submenus...
