Hello,

I made this thread to gather up information on this error message in OS X.

The screen dims and message says:

YOU NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR SEVERAL SECONDS OR PRESS THE RESTART BUTTON.
underneath this is the message in serveral different languages.

I am experiencing this message while copying a lot of data from a IDE hard drive to a SCSI RAID in striping mode.

I think it is the SCSI cable without any termination, but until I order one with a terminator and have it running for a while I won't be sure.

Here is the thread I posted with all the info on my situation:

BUT THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD IS TO GATHER INFORMATION ON THIS ERROR MESSAGE.

If you receive this error message then please post a thread of the situation, maybe we can solve it.

If you know anything about this error message (what usually causes it, etc.) then please share.

Hopefully we can solve this riddle!

Thanks,

Greg

This error message is a kernel panic.

What that means is that something has badly corrupted the core of OS X itself. This could be caused by a bug in OS X or by a bad RAM chip.

I get this message if a USB device is removed or attached during system sleep.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
