I am attempting to program a 96xx series phone onto a VPN with a Sonic Wall. The phone goes through all the normal boot and settings, it even downloads the files and updated the firmware. We then get to the point to do a login and input the extension and password and it comes back with "wrong set type" please wait. Then takes us back to the screen which is prompting us for Extension and password.

Sounds like the extension is not set as a H.323 phone in the configuration.

it is set as an H323 extension. We are also getting "VPN phone not allowed" when we open up monitor.

1.Following file loading the phone will request extension information: · Ext. =
Enter the extension number the phone should use and press #. Wrong Set Type is displayed if you try to
use the extension number of an existing non-IP extension.
