"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file".. 1

Hi all,

I encountered the following error during execution of an executable file. This exe file when run on another Win2k3 Server, there was no problem.

Error msg:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item.

Antivirus protection was not the cause. Folder and file access permissions are set to allow administrator.

Administrator account was logged on to the Server to run this exe but encountered error.

Anyone encountered this before? Pls advise. Thks.

IE Enhanced security was not enabled (not installed).

What's the program? Maybe the access problem isn't the EXE, but something the EXE is trying to access that isn't available, or doesn't exist.

The program is actually application packaged exe file. I understand what you are referring to. But I'm thinking based on Microsoft perspective. Are there any similar experience previously and resolved?

IE enhanced security was not enabled.

Have you tried turning off the firewall and try to run the application? Also try this on RUN: \\(server ip)and see if the path comes up.

Copy the file locally and try to run it. If it still doesn't run, Right-Click the file and choose Properties. On the General Tab, in the lower right, click [Unblock]
