"We couldn’t update system reserved partition"

Trying to upgrade a Dell laptop with Windows 7 to Windows 10 and getting that error.
I'm looking at the solutions, but all I see is to "increase the size of the System Reserved Partition" and you'll be fine.
Problem is that this laptop (and my Dell as well) doesn't have a system reserved partition at all.

Any advice on creating a partition to allow Windows 10 to do its thing or another solution? I don't seem to find this scenario (no S.R.V.) in my searches.

Are you up to reinstall of 7? IIRC it creates the reserve partition if it starts from totally unallocated space.

I'm sure it does, but that would be like death!! Too many installed programs and custom configurations.

Alternatives to that idea??????

I saw that page, but isn't the SRP supposed to be the first partition (in front of the OS partition) in a single boot system. That thread deals more with dual boot issues.

I was just being stupid. The System Reserved partition was named "DATA" and so it didn't register in my brain. It was nearly full though - the real problem. I enlarged it per procedures here and then the upgrade went just fine.
