Hi,

I've configured 2 Cisco 801 router to communicate with each other over ISDN. Now I have the problem that Router 1 can call Router 2, but the other way doesn't work. After turning on debug for the Dialer interface the following error message appears:

wait for isdn carrier timeout, call id=0x8002

I checked the telephone numbers and it seems te be OK.
Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

Ruben

What does sho ISDN stat show us? you should have layer 1 and 2 up... layer 1 is the actual physical and layer 2 is the switch communiction.. make sure you have the correctg SPIDS and the correct siwtch type set and if it's a newer IOS, the switch type can be globally set or by interface.

I am tring to configure the cisco router to dial to my remote office and i am able to dial and also able to communicate from one side but from other side i am not able to through packet from the other end of router..please help if any special configuration is needed

I had the exactly same problem with 2 3600 ios 11.2
Could only establish conn. from router1 to router2 not the otherway. The routers have been ok about 2 years back.

If you turn on debug isdn q931, on router 2, you will see the line:

cause i=0xnnnn - 0x stand for hex number.

I got 0x8095 - Call rejected

Then look up what the hexadecimal number stand for,
I got the number above. there is a code list at cisco.com

focus on the number after 0x80, in this case 95 remove the highest bit and compare the rest with the code value list.
In my case I got hex 15.
Code 15 is Call rejected. That means that Destination is capable of accepting the call but rejected the call for unknown reason.

Therefor I focused on router 1 and I found the problem.
The problem was that somebody has connected wrong isdn cable with wrong isdn interface on router (there is 5 interface on router)
