I'm a Director 8 user on Windows ME. I have a video file called "balls.avi". When I open it with Windows Media Player it shows perfectly, but when I import it in Director an error message appears: "Video Not Available:cannot find vids:mp42 decompressor". Please help.

I don't create the video. It's an existing file downloaded in Internet. As I said, I can see it in Windows Media Player (is an .avi format) but Director don't play it. I thing it's a codec problem but I don't know where I can obtain the appropiate codecs

I would definitely import the movie into some software like after affects, premiere, or some other conversion program (there are free ones out there) and resave it using a more common/backward compatible codec appropriate for the platform you are going to distribute the movie in (ie- windows or mac). Check out a software package called "Blaze" I've been hearing alot about it but haven't tried it out yet.

Hope this helps.
