Hi there, folks!

(I'm a [relatively new] novice/beginner with Dominoes Designer, so please be patient with me on this one!)....

We have a few users who are experiencing the following messages, each time they log into their lotus notes databases:

(1) "User CN={user's name}/O={server name(?)} cannot open database {path to databasename.nsf}".

This is because (as I understand), their entry/activity is automatically logged within the above {databasename}.nsf database.

(2) One of the user is also unable to select any options from a drop-down list attached to a field within certain views. He keeps getting the message: "Error: Keywords must be text!".

Just to let you know: only a few users are experiencing this problem. Myself & other users are able to access the system without any error messages appearing.

Also there was a situation whereby the certification for the software had expired, & was subsequently renewed. Would this have anything to do with the above messages?

We have been 'round the houses' (so to speak!), trying to sort this out. Our LN administrators have looked at the settings/permissions for the users in question, and these are exactly the same level for other users who are not experiencing any issues/problems, including myself.
They have also re-installed the software onto the user's desktop, and looked into the user's id, etc.

(Unfortunately this particular LN database was set up by a contractor (who was very exp. in LN/Dominoes Designer), and who is now no-longer with us).

Any help/advice very soon in this area would be appreciated !

Kind regards

As far as your second error is concerned, it is a design issue and not anything your admins can do anything about. There is probably a formula somewhere that depends on the status of the user, and those users having problems are either not set up correctly (returning an invalid status - that should have been controlled), or the formula is bugged in a particular way that was not tested or thought of.
In short, you need a designer for the second problem.
As for the first issue, if I understand correctly your users open a db, event which makes a log entry into another db (or the same one). Am I right ?
If so, the issue appears to be with the log function, and not the db itself. If the administrators are certain that the users have the same access as all others (did they check the roles correctly ?), then there might be a setup doc somewhere that needs to be updated.
Do these users have trouble with any other db ?

Pascal.
