Hi,

One of my users on my Access2000 application, .mde,
is seeing this error message for every button he clicks:

"THE EXPRESSION ON CLICK YOU ENTERED AS THE EVENT PROPERTY SETTING PRODUCED THE FOLLOWING ERROR: CANNOT UPDATE DATABASE OR OBJECT IS READ ONLY"

I zipped the file up and sent it to him, he un-zipped,
and ran the .mde file. I did the same thing on my
own machine, un-zipped the same file, ran the .mde,
and did not have any problems.

Does anyone know why this might occur? Is the
database somehow transforming to a read-only
status? I want the users to be able to use
the software immediately w/o making any changes
to the settings, etc.

thanks for your help!

Christy.

Possible that he may need to go Explorer right click on the db go into the properties and untick read only

Hope this helps

If hymn's suggestion doesn't work, you might want to check the user's permissions on the folder where it is stored. I don't remember the exact error, but one of my customers had a similar problem when the user didn't have write permissions on the folder.
