I have a back end file that is about 1.5 GB. It has one table in it. There are 1,256,353 records in that table.

When I compact and repair I receive the error "System Resources Exceeded".

Can anyone explain to me what is going on here?

I must have been looking at a local copy... the actual current version is ~ 1.7 GB. Gulp... I guess SQL is in the eminent future.

My best guess is that Access can't fragment the table into small enough pieces to compact it... Which seems absurd since it creates a new file on compact anyways.

If you continually have issues with C/R, I would create a new, blank file and import everything into it.

I would seriously consider moving to SQL Server however it might require some changes in how your application works.
