i need to place a second image on first one and make smoother borders between 1st image and second.

in past it was doing this using eraser, when using it on the border of second layer, it was making kinda gradient, kinda mixing colors of 1st and second layers.

now something changed and i can't do it anymore.
eraser erases very rough, taking all away on touch.

is there any option that regulates this function of eraser?
i play with opacity and flow %'s but it does not help (in past it was working by default)

using Photoshop 7

thanks for advices

Check the brush settings (brushes palette) - that a dynamic effect hasn't been applied. In the options ensure that the eraser is using the brush, not the pencil or block.

For a gradient opacity blend, you may want to consider using a layer mask with a gradient applied to it.

Failing this, try deletting your preferences.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.
