When I execute the lp command to a network printer, it generates output on the screen similar to "request id - networkprinter0-XX" where XX is simply a counter of the request id's.

Is there any way to silence that output? I already tried 1>/dev/null AND 2>/dev/null, neither of which work.

Help Anyone?

I am not sure, so please confirm with a "man lp"

man -d printer -s filename

(where -s is a "silent" option)
