"Show documents inside folders" in filtered Customized Views

Hi,
I have a customized view in WSS.
I've selected a filter to apply to it, AND I've selected
the option under "Folders" to "Show documents inside
folders".

When displaying this view however, i get the message that
there are no documents to be displayed. When I change
the "folders" option to "Show all documents without
folders" and display the view, I see all my documents!
(I haven't touched the filter)

Why is this occurring? It seems that the Folder option
is not compatible with applying a filter to a list!
