"Service failed to start" error in Event Viewer

Getting message:
"The 3COM Serial Port Driver Service failed to start due to the following error.
The system cannot find the file specified

The server is a Dell Poweredge 6300 with an Intel NIC and a US Robotics Modem that is not currently being used. I have temporarily disabled the 3COM Serial Port Driver in Services, but I need to determine what file it is looking for. I'm new to NT and I was told the US Robotics Modem may be using a 3COM Driver so I would like to fix the problem rather than hiding it until the modem is needed (if that's the device that needs it). Can anybody tell me how to find out what the specified file is that the service can't find and how to rectify the problem, assuming it is the modem that needs the file?

try reinstalling both devices from fresh or updated driver files. This won't give the file, but that is not the issue.
