"Searching" a web on the local drive (not HTTP://)

I am in the middle of transcribing a rather large amount of paper data (family tree) into a FP98 web. The major reasons for this are to improve overall readability and to allow for rapid research in finding specific names within the lineage.

I am using frames and have configured the web with a search form to scan for a particular name. The form works perfectly within the FP application, but when accessing it from outside the results from any search indicate that the web cannot be found.

I have done research and discovered that some webbot components will not work from a disc-based website. They are only functional on sites housed on true HTTP:// servers.

My question?.......What is the best way to search a disc-based web if not with the webbot.

I realize that the simple answer is to just publish the site on a web server (with extensions) and be done with it. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. The desired end result of this is not to publish on the web, but to burn the entire ball-o-wax to CD so copies can be sent to my family for their private archives.

I hope someone can help me. I was planning on presenting the final version to my parents on their anniversary in March.

TIA,
