I have a couple of impromptu reports on upfront that I need to output in excel format only. When the reports are run they automatically open up in excel. I want the "save dialog" to show up right after the report is run so the user first saves the file on his own PC and then he can open it later.

any suggestions

IWR doesn't support any type of macro scripting, so I don't think this is possible.

Hi mbusa,

One avenue you might explore is to look at creating a PowerPrompt application. They were originally intended to prompt users for various choices such as filters or inclusion/exclusion of data, then apply them to an IWR report at runtime using a script. It's been a while, so I don't remember if there are any methods you'd be able to use which would perform a "save as" operation - the documentation might help here?

Sorry to be a bit vague - I haven't used PowerPrompts in a long time.

Best regards,

MF.
