"Save As..." hangs

When I try to save an office doc I choose "Save As", but when the dialogue box appears and I try to change the save to location it hangs for as long as 90 seconds. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Could be a disk problem. Do you have current data backups?

In the unlikely case that your computer has plenty of available storage space, but you are still unable to save a file, run disk cleanup and disk defragmentor.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Office.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

Use the repair facility in Office.
