faq767-3227 describes how to make multiple copies of one label based on a qty field. It says to make a new table called "repeater".

My question is about having to make the table in a different database. Specifically, the application that I write my reports from is made from a paradox database. I don't have a way (that I know of) to create a new paradox table. All I have is MS Access.

I guess the main question is is this possible? I'm using CR 8.5 and MS Access 2002.

I tried adding the Access database with the one table into the folder with the paradox tables. I added the new access table to my Crystal report and tried to link it using the visual linking expert, but the type of link recommended was grayed out.

Then I removed the link and tried it in the select expert. It wasn’t available in the drop down menu so I had to use the formula editor to force it.

When I ran the report it told me that the field could not be linked.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

You aren't doing anything wrong. If you have to do this via MS Access, the link will belimited to and equal to link. In this case, you have to make a table that looks like this:

1
2
2
3
3
3
4
4
4
4
5
5
5
5
5

etc., etc.

Then when you link to it it will find the # of links you need to duplicate the label the number of times you want.

You should be able to build a table like this in paradox however and not have to resort to this.

OK, I changed the access table (I don't know how to make additions to the paradox database without having paradox on my PC). I'll deal with larger qtys later, most of the time they will only need less than 10 copies.

I have a test report that is not labels; just a basic plain report and it now works perfectly, but the report that is made from the label expert does not. It either only prints one copy or it doesn’t print any copies. I've verified the database changes in both and double checked several times to make sure that I'm not missing something. Any idea what would cause this?

Thank you

you need to actually place the number field form the access table on the label report. You can suppress it if you dont want it to print. Without this field the duplication effect will not work.
