if i put an &Enter as my caption for a button and run the program, everything works fine, but the underline under the E only appears if a person selects ALT key, it doesnt appear by default, is there a way to force it to appear by default so the person knows to press ALT + E?

If you're talking about XP (don't know about other flavours of Windows)
- right-click on your desktop, select properties
- choose page "Vormgeving" (layout ?? 4th page)
- uncheck "Onderstreepte letters voor toetsenbord navigatie verbergen tot ALT wordt ingedrukt" (must be something like "hide underlined charactrers until ALT is pressed", it is the last checkbox)
- press OK
