The American Dialect Society has chosen plutoed, meaning "to demote or devalue someone or something" as its 2006 Word of the Year.

Here is a link to a PDF of their press release, which includes other submissions and the voting by the ADS membership:

I hadn't heard of the word before but I like it. It sounds almost like expectorating. It could also be a synonym for "munsoned" from King Pin

Hmm, not so sure about that one. "Climate Canary" and "Lactard" make me chuckle though!

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

I like it! I might try to work it into my vocabulary a bit.

I use 'munsoned' all the time. Mostly for a particular adjective/past tense verb that I would not want to type on this site.

It is a good thing I do use it, because if I said the other it might get me plutoed ;-)
