"pause" fonction in Director 8

hi again;-)
i want to pause completely my animation, included quicktime movie, AIFF sndtrak and general framerate, using a "mouse on" script. On Director 8, the only way i found to achieve that is the "pause" fonction, but the problem it's that it equally stop some behaviour of my buttons (the images no more change on mouseover) so my question is: is their an equivalent to the obsolete (but still working!) "pause" fonction in Director 8, but without the behaviour limitation?
don't ask me "go loop" or "go to frame", it simply doesn't work, the quicktime keep rooling, the general framerate too!

no pause function. you can pause the quicktime with code but not aiff audio. pausing totally in director is very difficult for some strange reason. use quicktime for your audio so that you can pause it, the you can use a go to frame, but obviously you have other things you want to stop operating as well so you may be in trouble.

you might be able to use a MIAW for all your buttons etc and pause the main movie (or your quicktime in a MIAW and pause that)
